Young Adults Theatre
Third Place Theatre
“A third place…not home, not school…somewhere for young people to belong, connect and invest in. A place to go if one or more of the places are not going so well.” This is indicative to the objectives of the Fresh. The premise is based on the wellness idea that good mental health and functioning communities are reliant on three environments. Home, work/school and a third place. This third place is somewhere to belong, connect and invest yourself in outside home and work/school. These three environments assist mental health in providing support if one or more of the places are not going well. The Young Adult theatre will endeavour to endorse, promote and provide a 'third place.'
Each week participants will engage in a carefully crafted 2.5 hour session plan which includes theatre games, script work and pastoral care. The play will be an original script that has a particular theme identified as an issue facing young people in society today. The young people taking part in the performance as well and those observing it will be given the opportunity to engage in the vital questions and messages interactively through the characters and the scenarios the performance engages them in.
Using the medium of theatre we encourage the strong, give support to the timid, remind the indifferent and warn the oppressor.
