My VCE Drama Teacher looked like he was having a consistently excellent time while performing his role as theatrical educator. As a result, I knew that I, too, wanted to become a practitioner of the educational arts, spreading performance knowledge to schools everywhere! And so, Mitch the Drama teacher was born. Growing up, I have traversed the theatrical world. Dipping my toes in the water at a young age, I was assistant drama teacher at Helen O’Grady, as well as the go to theatre guy at Camp Australia, all the while participating in a broad spectrum of dramatic performance. As I slowly widened my professional horizons, I entered University at Deakin, Burwood, to undertake a whirlwind of placement experiences, most memorable of which being Scotch College and Rosebud Secondary. During this time, I managed to secure myself a teaching position with the Australian College of Dramatic Arts, teaching both the 1st and 2nd year classes of the Peninsula Cluster, as well as a position with MBCTA youth theatre, working with 3 different age groups. It was then, ladies and gentlemen, that I stumbled on to the invigorating establishment that is Fresh Theatre, working as the Artistic Director, and, after having completed a whole year with the crew, am so excited to see what Fresh 2018 brings!
